Our first feature is a WeTech Fellow — Hellen Kokach, who is pursuing her degree in Informatics and Computer Science at Strathmore University. Get to know her and her contributions.

What have you worked on?

I have participated in a number of hackathons e.g Microsoft Leap Ladies Hackathon 2019, Social Storm 2020, BuildforSDG which was organised by Facebook and Andela. These have given me the opportunities to collaborate and share ideas with people from diverse backgrounds and different countries. I have also been a member of various tech communities like Strathmore University IT Students Association (SUITSA), Developer Students Club and She Code Africa.

Share something you’re working on

I am currently working on my final year project which is a nutritional chatbot that recommends diet and calculates the users' calories. I am also a mentee at KamiLimu which is a mentorship program that seeks to augment classroom learning for Computer Science students at Kenyan universities. Moreover, I am an Innovation Fellow at Impact Africa Network(IAN) where I work with a dedicated team to develop solutions that help change the African Narrative.

What do you hope to do in the future?

I hope to have contributed to tech solutions that have a positive impact on society.

If you’re inspired by Hellen, give us a 👏🏽 and share this with your network. If you’ll like to know more about WeTech, click here.
