[June] Mentee Project Spotlight: Celebrating One Month of Mentorship! 🚀

We’re super excited to share some of the amazing projects being worked on in the second cohort of the Wetech Mentorship Program. It’s been an incredible journey so far, with one month of dedicated mentorship and collaboration. Today, we shine a well-deserved spotlight on the outstanding projects that some of our mentees have been diligently working on.

Our mentorship program is all about fostering growth, providing guidance, and nurturing talent in various domains. From technology and entrepreneurship to art and social impact, our mentees have embarked on remarkable projects that showcase their creativity, determination, and passion.

Let’s dive into some of the cool projects our mentees have been working very hard on during this past month. We’ll break it down by mentorship track.

Backend Development

Mentee: Aishat Adeladun Adewoyin

Bio: A passionate web developer with a strong focus on creating visually stunning and user-friendly websites. With 1 year of professional experience in the field, I have honed my skills in full stack development, UX design, and responsive web design.

Project: A banking application that stores customers data at the backend. Currently in progress. Click here to view the project.

Mentor: Martha Kaburi

Mentee: Agbalajobi Moyinoluwa

Bio: I am currently a backend developer and learning NodeJS to build scalable products.

Project: A short article on agile programming, for technical beginners to learn these concepts. Click here to view the project.

Mentor: Okeke Nkechi Jane

Cloud/DevOps Engineering

Mentee: Agbolade Adeniji

Bio: I’m a DevOps Engineer and enthusiastic about AWS and Cloud architecture, and server configurations. Experience with EC2, S3, CloudFormation, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Github/Gitlab, and various CI/CD tools. Python Programmer.

Project: A subtle introduction to the Kubernetes platform. It gives insight into navigating the service. It is quite simple and straightforward, and is the first of many series. Click here to view the project.

Mentor: Cornelia Ekpenyong

Data Analysis

Mentee: Blessing Ekwere

Bio: As a Data Analyst, I specialize in transforming complex data sets into actionable insights. With a strong background in statistical analysis and data visualization, I have a proven track record of delivering data-driven solutions to drive business growth. I am passionate about uncovering meaningful patterns in data and using them to inform strategic decision-making.

Project by: Blessing Ekwere

Project: The Forggith Pharmaceuticals Analysis Project aims to delve into the data of a fictional pharmaceutical company, Forggith Pharmaceuticals, in order to gain valuable insights and identify opportunities. The project encompasses a comprehensive analysis of the company’s sales and marketing data, utilizing a range of analytical techniques including data visualization, statistical analysis, and predictive modelling. The primary objectives were to assess sales performance, segment customers effectively, and evaluate marketing effectiveness. To achieve this, the project involved tasks such as data cleansing, exploratory data analysis, and the development of interactive dashboards. The resulting insights facilitated data-driven decision-making within Forggith Pharmaceuticals, enabling the optimization of sales strategies, the targeting of high-value customers, and an overall enhancement of the company’s market position. Developer Advocate

Mentee: Oyindamola dawodu

Bio: I’m a software engineer at Standage LTD and a community manager at She Code Africa Lagos. Recently awarded a Gold Ambassador at Chimoney. I am passionate about technology, creative development, and community empowerment. My goal is to make a positive impact in the industry and empower individuals within the tech community.

Project by: Oyindamola Dawodu

Project: The DEVREL project involves exploring the developer relations field and documenting insights through a blog series. It focuses on the role of Developer Experience Specialists in bridging the gap between companies and developers, aiming to optimize developer experiences and foster meaningful relationships. Mentor: Ifeoma Nwosu

Frontend Development

Mentee: Anuoluwapo Olusanya

Bio: I’m a Front-end developer, looking for opportunities to hone my skills and become better at my craft.

Project: This is a real estate house listing website in vanilla Javascript. The app can be used by agents to list houses for rent and for sale. Click here to view the project.

Mentor: Fatima Modupe Bello

Mobile Development

Mentee: Mutiat Bashua

Bio: A frontend and Mobile developer who is keen on sustainability and growth. I’m always open to learning and integrating new technologies to improve productivity. I believe that with God’s grace, hard work and determination we can achieve everything we set our mind to.

Project: This is a UI of a Mobile Weather Application using React native. It includes a search page where users can search for a particular location to get real time updates on the weather in that location for a week. Click here to view the project.

Mentee: Chioma Godwin

Bio: A flutter developer and tech enthusiast under the mobile development track.

Product Design/ UX Research

Bio: Product Designer passionate about creating user centred design to improve digital experiences using Figma.

Project: FEMGUARD is a safety companion app designed to help women feel safe while going about their activities in big cities. Click here to view the project.

Conclusion

As we celebrate the first month of our 3-month mentorship program, we are thrilled to see the incredible projects our mentees have built. Their determination, resilience, and creativity are shining through, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.

To our mentees, keep pushing forward, embracing challenges, and never stop believing in the power of your projects. Remember, this is just the beginning of your journey, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
