[July] Mentee Spotlight: Highlighting Outstanding Projects

As we approach the final month of our mentorship program, it’s time to celebrate the incredible progress and achievements of our talented mentees. 🙌🏼 Over the past two months, they have dedicated themselves to their projects, demonstrating remarkable passion, creativity, and resilience.

In this blog, we shine a spotlight on some of the inspiring projects that have blossomed under our Mentors guidance. From innovative tech solutions to impactful social initiatives, let’s explore the diverse array of accomplishments that our mentees have brought to life.

Data Analysis

Mentee: Joy Okwah-Aina

Bio: A data analyst focused on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) deployments and passionate about improving performance. Now, I am leveraging my expertise in data analytics to drive improvements in corporate performance as a data analyst.

Project: A revenue dashboard that provides actionable insights to drive a company’s success. The primary goal of this dashboard project is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s performance, identify areas of opportunity, give recommendations, and make data-driven decisions to enhance revenue growth. Mentee: Ruth Ekwere

Bio: Ruth is a project manager who is passionate about leveraging data analytics to revolutionize project execution and streamline business processes. She is committed to employing data-driven strategies to optimize project timelines, mitigate risks, and maximize overall efficiency. She is focused on improving her skills in Excel, SQL, Tableau, and Python.

Project: I am working with a dataset that highlights the teams, positions, and salaries of basketball players in the United States in 2003. I created a filter to understand the nature of the data I’m working with and used a pivot table to get a quick summary of my data. I went on to create a simple bar chart to visually depict the summary in my pivot table. There are several business questions that can be answered from this dataset. E.g., what positions of players have the highest or lowest salaries, what teams pay the highest or lowest salaries? etc. Click here to view the project.

Mentee: Blessing Ekwere

Bio: As a dedicated data analyst, I possess a deep passion for transforming raw data into actionable insights. My proficiency extends across various tools, including Microsoft Excel, Power BI, SQL, and Python. I thoroughly enjoy unraveling patterns and trends that support informed decision-making. With a keen eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to continuous learning, I embrace new challenges and actively contribute to data-driven success. Project: The rise of global terrorism has presented significant challenges to nations and individuals worldwide. To comprehend the driving factors, affected regions, and evolving tactics of extremist groups, there is a need to analyze the global terrorism dataset. This project aims to provide valuable insights into the complex nature of terrorism, informing policymakers, security agencies, and the global community. By addressing key questions about attack frequencies, impact, trends, and weapon types, we seek to shed light on the global terrorism landscape. The global terrorism dataset analysis covers a vast range of information from 1970–2020 including attacks across 204 countries and 45,000 cities, resulting in 479,000 deaths and 586,000 injuries. Frontend Development

Mentee: Oreoluwa Ruth Ajayi

Bio: Oreoluwa Ruth Ajayi, is a highly skilled frontend developer with a passion for creating captivating user experiences. Armed with expertise in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, Oreoluwa Ruth Ajayi crafts seamless and responsive interfaces that leave a lasting impact. Their commitment to staying ahead of the latest frontend technologies ensures cutting-edge solutions, making them a valuable asset to any development team.

Project: Creating captivating user experiences through every aspect of our e-commerce clothing store. Through meticulous attention to detail, I’ve crafted an intuitive and visually stunning interface that effortlessly guides our target audience on their fashion journey. Users can embrace the convenience of personalized recommendations that empowers users to explore, indulge, and elevate their fashion game. Click here to view the projrct.

Bio: A Frontend developer focused on creating great user experiences using modern frontend technologies.

Project: Resam credit is an app that gives Nigeria police officers access to loans. We have different developers working on this project. I am assigned to the sign in, error, contact page. Click here to view the project.

Product Design/ UX Research

Mentee: Ayomide Oyinloye

Bio: Passionate about creating impactful designs and interested in giving back to the society.

Project: Designing a mobile app/product that offers a personalized and user-friendly experience for tracking fitness progress. Click here to view the project.

Mentee: Folasewa Ogunsola

Bio: I am a passionate product designer dedicated to devising user-centric solutions that effectively address problems, leveraging digital design and creativity. Driven by an unwavering pursuit of excellence, my focus remains on constantly honing and perfecting my skills to ensure the meticulous and purposeful execution of every project I take on. My dedication spans across a wide range of products, be it mobile apps, web platforms, or physical items, as I am driven to craft experiences that not only fulfill user needs but also leave them delighted and inspired.

Project: The project I’m currently working on is a mobile application that empowers and safeguards women in various dangerous situations. The app will be equipped with features that address the safety concerns of women, delivering timely security alerts and assistance whenever they encounter potentially hazardous situations especially when outside. These features include Emergency alert button, safety circle, anonymous community to report danger incidents and Nearby safety zones. Click here to view the project.

Mentee: Chiletam Ekewuba

Bio: Chiletam is a designer with a passion for creating compelling visual experiences and a strong foundation in design principles. She has a keen-eye for detail, is equally passionate about storytelling and is dedicated to continuous learning.

Project: Every professional has at some point been faced with the problem of scheduling. If you’re not on top of it, odds are that you’re sinking underneath and that’s where the TimeWiz app comes in. It’s an app that solves the problem of clashing schedules by suggesting meeting times, notifications and reminders, and advanced time zone updates depending on users location. As we approach the final month of our mentorship program, it fills us with pride and joy to see our mentees thriving and making a difference through their projects. Each mentee’s endeavor showcases their unique talents, passions, and dedication to creating a positive impact in their respective fields.

The projects featured here are just a glimpse of the incredible work our mentees have accomplished, and we can’t wait to witness the continued growth and success of each one of them.

We extend our gratitude to all the mentors who have been guiding and supporting these aspiring individuals throughout the program. The bonds formed and the knowledge shared will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on their professional journeys.
